报告摘要:Additive manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, is a fabrication approach where a 3D object is created by adding material, typically layer by layer. Additive manufacturing provides unique design and manufacturing flexibility. This talk will explore the technical principles and workflows involved in AM, highlighting the diverse range of materials and processes used. The various AM processes, including Photopolymerization, Extrusion, Jetting, Powder Fusion, Sheet Lamination, and Beam Deposition, will be discussed. Additionally, the talk will delve into the software and design aspects of AM, showcasing its wide-ranging applications across different industries. The value and significance of 3D printing in today's manufacturing landscape will be discussed. Attendees will gain an understanding of AM, enabling them to leverage this technology in their own projects and ventures.

报告人简介:Dr. Omar Faruk Emon has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at the University of New Haven since 2021. He directs the Smart Fabrication Lab at UNewHaven where graduate and undergraduate students are involved in active research. Prior to UNH, he worked at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY as an academic staff. At Cornell, he mentored students in their research projects and managed a design lab at the Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. degree from The University of Akron in Ohio, USA. Dr. Emon has expertise in additive manufacturing technologies. His research focuses on additive manufacturing of smart polymers, printed electronics, and 3D bioprinting. He developed additive manufacturing systems to print functional polymers for electronics. He is also investigating 3D printing solutions for biomedical applications.
